My consulting career started with the Boston Consulting Group after completing an MBA from Melbourne Business School. After several years at BCG I joined the strategy team at one of Australia’s largest banks, where I spent five years running business unit and corporate strategy projects, as well as the annual strategic planning process.
I then made the switch back into consulting by joining Cast, with the aim of combining the best aspects of top-tier consulting (the level, quality and variety of work) and in-house strategy (the longer and deeper engagement with clients leading to greater buy-in and impact), but with the increased freedom and choice of being an independent consultant.
Cast has delivered a fantastic variety of projects for impressive clients, who have shown great enthusiasm for Cast’s more affordable and flexibly business model. Being able to coach and fully engage client team members and executives at a pace that suits their work-load leads to much greater impact and a much more enjoyable and rewarding experience for both me and the client.
Working with Cast I have been able to greatly expand my areas of experience and capability, and have had to opportunity to work with a diverse group of colleagues each with their own distinct strengths and experiences.
I had worked as a consultant for top tier firms (McKinsey & Company and A.T. Kearney), as well as independently, when I came across Cast Professionals. Cast offered the best of many worlds: the ability to continue to work as an independent consultant, the access to top management, the opportunity to work on organisation-wide business issues, and the ability to continue to lead teams. Cast has also facilitated opportunities to work on difficult and novel business issues that stretch me and keep me fresh.
Working as an independent consultant really suits my profile. I enjoy being responsible for shaping the problem solving approach, managing the client and creating my own 'mini-culture' in my teams. And, of course, the flexibility to dial up or down my workload to fit in with other priorities in my life.
I started my career in the corporate world, in banking, with my formative experience in London and senior management roles in the US. I made the transition to management consulting 10 years ago, working with McKinsey & Co across many industries and companies for over five years, from Associate to Engagement Manager.
For the last five years I have been providing independent consulting advice to leading companies in Australia. I have an MBA from Melbourne University and now three kids keeping me active on weekends.
